Greyfield, a Cumberland Island estate, was the 19th century retreat of Lucy and Andrew Carnegie. It was converted into a romantic luxury inn in 1962 by their granddaughter. Marla grew up spending weekends on the island, and this special spot is in part what inspired her to become a furniture and interior designer. For almost a year, Marla was able to fulfill a childhood dream, living full-time at Greyfield, immersing herself in the day-to-day life of the estate. She focused on elevating the food program, hiring a well-known chef, spearheading a one acre organic garden, and hosting her "full moon supper club," a modern salon gathering of artists, writers, and people doing interesting things in the world.
